The Cape Town edition... Welcome to my ramblings, if you care to read on, you will sooon find that this is mostly an attempt to record the things I'd want to remember one day but probably wouldn't. This of course is due to my absolutely rubbish memory.

Working with convicts

Lately my job situation has been one of those on and off types, not fun, but hey thats life. Currently, its on, but soon it may be off again. So I decided that weekend work would help fill my pockets.

I got in touch with one of my ex-housemates bosses, he runs a security firm that hires out gaurds to various companies, for corporate events, exhibiton shows, concerts etc. I got some work for Saturday night, ushering people around at the London School of Business, a nice easy job.

I arrived on the scene after meeting up with a very dopey Nigerian who was to work at the same venue and apparently knew where it was according to the boss. Not so, this guy probably took us on the longest and most scenic route to get there, through Regents Park, over bridges, next to lakes and under tunnels when we could have just walked up the high road for a bout 5 minutes and turned left, instead it took us about 20 minutes. Idiot!

So after chatting to some of my new 'colleagues' I find out that most of them are ex-cons! I decided I was better off not knowing why they had spent time behind bars. What got me, is that these are 'ex' criminals who are now working as security gaurds! crazyiness. Nice guys though, so as the night goes on, we get told that we're more than welcome to help ourselves to the food on offer (International Food Fair), of course they would say this when all the food is gone! all except Apple pie being forced on people by drunk Americans. Apple pie sounded good to me, and it was, Apple Pie and Stella... and Carling, I dont know what it is with English people and the work-booze connection, but I'm not complaining.
