Ready or not, here they come
Every country has there ‘national’ brand of potato crisps, London has Walkers, South Africa has ‘Simba’ etc etc. Last night I was about to open a packet of Walkers ‘Ready Salted’ crisps, when I couldn’t help but notice the name ‘Ready Salted’ say it again, does that sound at all strange? Is there going to be a time when the salted crisps will not be ready? Or is the ‘ready’ slang for ‘already’, because I’m pretty sure that if you just said ‘salted’ on the packet you would have the exact amount of sales, if not more from people like me who get peeved by silly things like telling me that my crisps are ready. Ready for what? To be eaten? Then why not say ‘Ready Salt and Vinegar’? Nope, that’s just Salt and Vinegar, no ready there. Who on this weird and wonderful earth is going to put more salt on their already ‘Ready Salted’ crisps? I know I don’t walk around with a salt shaker in my pocket.
