Terrorism in London
It was pointed out to me that there have been more recent terrrorist activity in London since the 1970's, perhaps what I was trying to say is that this is by far the worst since the 1970 IRA bombings. I stopped thinking of IRA activity as terrorism a long time ago, I see them more as a group of people (a nation) struggling for their independance. In no way do I condone such violent activity, but I understand their struggle. I have included a list below of what I could find on the net, these are among the bigger terrorist activities in London during the 90's:
'The images are much too familiar: Sirens blaring on vehichles racing down streets; people moving around in chaos, some bleeding, most crying, all with a look of astonishment. This time it is London, the worst attack there since World War II.'

errrr, isn't that exactly what all terrorist activity is about? think about the palestinian terror attacks, al qa'ida purporting that they want the west to leave Iraq & Afghanistan, etc?

Maybe its because I wrote alot about the IRA and republican struggle while at Uni that I understand their struggle more than I do others. There is very little research material available on Al qa'ida, and I'm not about to put my personal views (yeah I know thats what blogs are for) on such a serious topic out in the open.
Maybe my reason is that the IRA accepted resonsibilty and made clear why they were doing what they did. The alqaida and other middle eastern terrorists attack, dont clame responsibility and never make know what their intentions were. Does anyone know who or why Thursday happened? The G8 summit?-speculation, not fact.

well, Ireland was screwed over and did bargain for the Counties they got except 6 , the North to you in 1921. Genuien freedom Fighters and I'm an ex Brit soldier. The Modern iRA was bit more complicated being that there 2 Irish Sides to consider(Caths and Prots) not just the Republicans to consider, same as Iraq, Sunni's and Shiities plus Kurds! Al Quaeda is nothing like this , they are disdained by any reputable Muslim, The modern IRA lost its honour a long time ago and killed Kids and were (are ) involved in Drugs in NI as well. Just to educate you..
